    I Did It!

so i waited another week to hold my baby pastel male. I got him on the 19th of well last month, he ate for me, first try on wed, then fri i tried picking him up but he hissed and puffed at me. So i took all of your advices and left him alone for another week, i fed him on wed, and he ate yet again f/t btw and today i was nervous but i really wanted to pick him up and have him start getting used to me, soo it took a few min to calm down and just do it, well i did and he didnt hiss at me, not once. So im proud that i actually picked him up and also proud he didnt hiss at me. ill post pics of him in the pictures section seeing last time he was in a lil ball and couldnt see much. Thanks again for the advice and reassurance.

Congrats....but I have some that I've had for a while that hiss at me but are puppies once they are out. Hissing isn't necessarily a bad thing...unless he's striking at you too lol.

Yea I been working with Cody for the last couple of days. At first he was striking, then he went to staying in a complete ball, and today he was a little more of an explorer and I was able to rub him under the chin. I took him out for 10 minutes Wednesday, 20 minutes Thursday, and today he hung with me for 40 minutes. I walk slowly around the house and he "sniffs" every where we go.

Congrats on getting yours out successfully. I am determined to hold him each day (except feeding days) until we are both comfortable with each other.

When I walk with him I just make sure his head isn't pointed at anyone where he could bite them if he got nervous. I kinda know when he is ready to be left alone because he doesn't move around curiously but he starts moving fast like he's trying to get out of my hands.

Mine does that too when I get close to his cage. He starts freaking out and getting really skiddish. So, I just open his cage and he flys in it and hides behind the plants I have set up.

Congrats on getting your lil one a little more comfortable with you Knytemare.

Why thank you. it also doesnt help that i had my 28 yr old brother snooping through my room cause he thought i thew away his baseball cards and he thinks its funny to mess with them, so he tries to make them strike at him through the tub. -_- but im making sure he doesnt get in my room again, and picking him up got me more comfortable with him.

Hahaha. That never helps with the situation. I try to show my mom how docile my bp is and she freaks out yelling at me to take him out of her room.

Today my dogs busted into my room while I had my snake out and Templar started to sniff my cocker spaniel and he started to get somewhat close to him. I started pulling him back because I saw one of my Weims come up to my snake and sniff him and my snake freaked out and jumped back into my hands and tucked his head. When he poked his head out and saw his cage he started to freak out and I knew he wanted back in because my Weim scared the hell out of him.
