Decisions
I'm planning on getting another snake, and have narrowed it down to two boas. Amazon Tree Boa, or a BRB? Amazons cost a lot less, but I know they have aggressive tempers, but with proper handling can be tamed (?). BRBs are no cheaper than $125 and have a much better temper, and more specific humidity requrements. So which one should I get??

Can't go wrong with EITHER a brazillian rainbow or a RTB! Choose the one you like the best and you'll be happy.
BRBs have stricter humidity requirements and are perhaps slightly less forgiving of husbandry errors. But they are gorgeous! They are slightly smaller than a RTB.
RTBs are quite forgiving of husbandry errors and have great personalities. They can get quite large, but the males are not as big as the females, and hog islands tend to stay smaller.
Good luck and we'll want pics once you've brought the baby home!

Re: Decisions
Hog island and atb's are competing for #1 on my list right now, but I'm leaning towards an ammie. I'm sure there are many people that would disagree with the sentiment that atb's can be tamed--it seems like even the "nice" ones I hear about still are pretty defensible and can be aggressive...but I think their attitude is what makes them special! If I were you, I'd go for an amazon tree boa for sure!
EDIT- And I don't know about the humidity with brb's, but atb's still need fairly high humidity.
there is a great amazon tree boa forum out there to do some specific research to see if it's the best fit for you!

Re: Decisions
I also have to vote BRB... no bias at all of course!! They do require higher humidity than a RTB, but really if you get a tub the humidity is so easy to keep up. My little guy is only about 5 months old now and since the initial misting of the bedding, I only have to mist once a week and he's been doing wonderfully. Total sweetheart too, very curious and active.
ATBs are beautiful, but the attitude does turn me off a bit. I suppose if you don't mind that kind of snake, then they're great. I would like to get a green tree python at some point though... I've heard more stories about them being a little more friendly than ATBs and they're just as gorgeous. All of these snakes (BRBs, ATBs and GTPs) require high humidity and specific temps though, so basically it's all about the temperament you're looking for.
