How long should you wait for them to emerge from the egg?

The first one pipped at day 58 so I cut the others! It has been two days since and they are not trying to come out at all! How long should I wait before I intervene? It's my first clutch and I hear the horror stories of them drowning!

If you clipper the eggs then they wont drowned. Typically if on of them has an issue it'll sit in the egg for days after the others have come out..

Keep waiting, as they can sit in up to 8 more days after first one pips.

Re: How long should you wait for them to emerge from the egg?

I'm in the same situation as the OP. Two have left the egg a few have their heads sticking out and some are not even trying to come out. I guess this is another situation where patience come into play! These guys are great at testing ones patience!

Is it normal for a slight odor to occure once they have been cut?

Re: How long should you wait for them to emerge from the egg?

    Hi,

Is the smell coming from the eggs or spilled egg white in the substrate?

If it is the eggs and/ or there is a scum or film forming give them a spray with incubator temp water and even use a Q-tip to get any clumps of substrate or dried egg white out.

Mine all finally emerged from their eggs Saturday - 8 days after cutting. The clutch before was 7 days.
