ID this egg thing!

Anyone have any idea of what kind of spider egg thing this is? There's a black spider that mothers them but I'm too scared to get close. Well, closer I should say.... These are on each side on my front door. .

Those are brown widow eggs. Had some on my garbage can. Might wanna get rid of them

Ugh, I hate killing stuff. But they are not even a foot away from being inside my house. Maybe I should spray with spider killer

Yeah, a poisonus pest in an inconvenient location. I worry about my dog getting bit. We find black and brown widows frequently around our house. The eggs are pretty cool though. I almost think I see the brown widows leg sticking out of the door frame in the first picture. They are striped.

Many different types of spider have egg sacks that look like that.. What area are you in? Are widows even common there? My house is full of common house spiders and the occasional wolf spider. I see egg sacks like that a lot. We even get a shiny black spider with a very round rear end which looks like a widow but it is not. Just be sure before you freak out too much.

A widow has a red hourglass on it's underside. Unmistakable.

Well how would you suggest going about examining the spider while it's in the web? It has a round bottom but I cannot see it's underside. I love on the east coast of Florida, there are tons of spiders here, including huge wolf spiders. I've been bitten twice in the last year, each time by a spider inside my house. Once on the inner thigh from a spider in my shorts from inside of my dresser and once on my chest after taking a curtain down to wash, the spider was in the curtain and I piled it into my arms. So hopefully you can understand my panic.

If it were in my house, I would probably just get the egg sacks out no matter what they are. I get enough house spider bites when I sleep. If there is any chance that a dangerous spider is in my house, I'd remove it.

well to my horror i discovered that widows are not limited to the red hourglass mark on the underside of their abdomens...the red markings can take different shapes - dots, hourglass, triangles (i've personally seen 'em all)...and the markings can be on their backs as well (seen these too) and with my extreme fear of widows none live after i've laid eyes on them. since they love dark, traffic free corners i meticulously comb through my garage every spring disturbing piles of what nots stored in there & breaking down every web i find, killing the spiders and destroying their egg sacs. this keeps their numbers down and i never have to worry about an infestation. i do this mainly because my disabled 7 yr old son is fearless and will play with every creature he sees crawling around and i will not chance him running into a black widow.
