    Egg success %

This is my first breeding season and I dont seem to be having any luck. I have had 10 girls breed numerous times and some still going but no eggs or building or anything that I can see. I've seen them ovulate and put males in and saw all kinds of locks. I dropped temps, then raised them back up and it just seems like nothing is going on. What does it sound like I'm doing wrong. I bought all proven breeder females and they all had last year off. I would appreciate any help I can get. I was just curious what % of females you guys have get eggs during a given season. I've had some people tell me as low as 20% and as high as 90%.

    thanks

So far, being our first year..., we've had 3 out of 9 lay eggs. We have a 4th due to lay this weekend, and another building toward ovulation. We also have definite follicles in 4 more, and they have definitely locked up and are in the building process.

Don't know if that really helps, but ours are looking like they'll be 80% or so... 7 or 8 out of 9.
Lots of BPs, and still not enough!

It's my first year, too, and it looks like we're going to go 4 for 4. (fingers crossed!)

We've got one clutch ready to pip any day now and three girls due in the next two weeks.

    Re: Egg success %

    Hi,

Your post makes the timeline of things very hard to follow - ovulation is the last sign and the one that means eggs ( or slugs ) are definately coming out.

Any male put it afterwards won't be the father. Even if he does lock the deed is done and the eggs are fertilised durng ovulation.

Take a look at this page and then tell us what you did and saw when.
