question regarding heating on a wood tank.

i know most people put the snakes heating pad inside the enclosure when making a DIY enclosure. but i was told we cannot let a snake directly touch the heating pad or heat tape. question being is how should i go about trying to use a heat mat on my wood enclosure? am i worrying to much and should i just place it in the tank with my ranco probe on top? because wood is not that great when it comes to trying to heat a corner ahah

A few people have mentioned putting the pad inside a wooden tank with ceramic tiles on top to keep the snake from resting directly on it.

I tile my cages, but what I've done on my most recent cages is glued foil on top of the wood and then rested the heat mat on that. Drill ventilation holes for excess heat to escape. The tile and cement board just sit right on top of the heat mat with no issues.

I use wooden cages, with both heat pads and heat tape.
I just place it under the cage.

Here is fairly new build, same thing heat tape attached to the bottom, works great.
