Probing
I just bought a set of three probes on Ebay. I wanted to see if yall can give me different techniques on probing. Ive read instructions on how to do it but i havent done it b/c i feel pretty paranoid that im going to seriously hurt my ball pythons. And i really really dont want that to happen. Soooo my probes have been sitting on my shelf for a week. Any tips or experiences are super appreciated!
Thank you

Why are you sexing your ball pythons if you know what they are?

I would have some one show you how to do it in front of you first and then try. If you can't do that the best advice I can give is watch a ton of videos on you tube and use lots of lube. Take your time, be delicate and and whatever you do "Don't push hard". Good luck

I always probe new pickups. Just because it was sold as a female dosnt mean it is lol. From a breeder it's different but pickups from expos absolutely. Your always gonna have the people trying to make an extra buck and sell a snake as something it's not.

Even the pro's make mistakes in sexing from time to time, with no nefarious intent behind it. Mistakes happen, it's always good to independently double check yourself, no matter who you get an animal from.

Call your local herp society if you don't know any local breeders and see if they have any member who would be willing to teach you how to probe.
Justin Kobylka was the one who trained me back in 2006!

If you have ABSOLUTELY no one to help you along, which would be the best and first option - I would urge you to look on Youtube where there are several videos of some experienced breeders demonstrating how to probe your Ball Pythons. Some good examples would be jkbylka, and LLLreptile. Be sure you have plenty of lubrication; and be as gentle as possible; if you can not fulfill those requirements, I would suggest waiting until you can find someone to show you.
