looking to start roaches

looking to start a colony gunna get a lil starter kit but can someone show me how they have them setup tank wise also what you feed them

What species are you looking into? I have dubias and have had turk roaches. I keep mine in dark rubbermaid totes with a square cut out of the lid and a piece of mesh screen hot glued to it for ventilation. They have egg cartons that stand vertically up so their waste falls to the bottom of the tub. They eat fruits and veggies and sometimes dog food and wheat bread and things like that. They have one heat pad but need another because most roaches produce faster in pretty warm temps.

I never went with a tank because I've had baby roaches climb up the glue in the corners.

babies will climb a tub just as fast as the corners of a tank.

Apply vasoline to the top corners of the tank and you won't have any problems using a tank.

Or use packing tape around the inside at the top. I touch the tape I've got in my bins all the time I'd be SO angry if i got vasoline on me every time I went in the roach bin.

OP i have a 64 quart rubbermaid set up exactly as explained above. Ive got a little dish of water crystals and I don't use any substrate. I've had my colony going for over 16 months now. Dubia roaches, I love them, they are GREAT!

I've never had babies climb tubs I've used, they can't get a grip is what I've seen. I don't use Vaseline or tape of any kind.

x2 I however made my tubs adult male escape proof by putting window screen over the 1/4 in wire mesh...Haven't had one flitter their way since...

I have babies that get static cling and can zoom around the sides, especially during the winter months.
