    Getting in over my head?

So, as of right now I have two normal ball pythons. I'm getting a third today because one of my friend's brother bought it then realized it's not as awesome as he thought ...
I just found out that another one of my friends knows someone that bought a ball and can't take care of it correctly and she wondered if I'd take it ...

I do want to eventually start a snake rescue ... but I'm still so new to this all! I don't know if I'm ready to suddenly start collecting all these balls that may or may not be healthy.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? I don't want these animals to be in bad conditions, but I don't know if I can afford everything I'd need for each snake.

Should I suggest they call the local college that has a nice sized snake collection? I know they have reptile experts that work with them.

    Thanks!

If you can't afford them or don't know if you could take care of them I personally wouldn't take them. You do not need to put yourself into a position that you can not handle. i would try to find a herp rescue and give their number to the people who want to get rid of their bp's, or I would take them in and surrender them to the rescue myself....

sounds like you have your own feeder colony.
that is the most costly part.
if you can get the snakes with there enclosures, and accessories, that would help alot. taking care of 4 insted of 2, not aloy of difference.
just add an extra breeder female to your colony.

Yeah, we have some feeders going Their mice, and we're wanting to start rats too. They're for my amusement as well as feeders haha.

If I can get everything with them I don't think there'd be an issue. The one I'm getting today has everything, but the other person only wants to part with the snake =/ If we had extras of stuff I'd take it, but we don't.

It does sound like you may be getting in over your head.

A big expense with keeping herps is regular vet visits.doing fecals and treating if needed is a must.so you must consider vet bills which can add up with multiple animals.

Good luck with what you decide to do.

I try not to take in too many rescues at a time. It's hard though bc you don't want to see them suffer. Big vet bills suck and most rescues tend to have one issue or another. Hence why they are unwanted.

I decided that I can handle three... any more, I can't. I told them to call the college and see if they'll take one 'cause I don't know of any rescues in the area.

I don't like to see them in bad conditions, but I can't take every animal I feel bad for.

I think this was a smart move. In fact I was about to suggest exactly that. Good thing I read the comments.
