    Fruzed rats

Alright I am in the midst of swapping over to F/T with Scarlett. She will S up like she wants to strike but will not actually do anything. She will stay like that for a solid 20 min before she looses interest. I tried some zombie dancing but I think longer feeding tongs are needed. She is not interested at all when my hand is in the tank. She is freshly coming off of her winter fast and took a nice poop for my this morning so I am hoping she will eat tomorrow. we will see. My main question is where is the best/cheapest place to order some up?

    Re: Fruzed rats

After you thaw the rat, are you heating it up?
I buy my F/T's locally, but I know there are a few places that ship. The only one I can of right now is Rodent Pro.

Yes I heat them up. I thaw the rat in the fridge overnight and then mave it to the counter a few hours before feeding time. After that I will either put it in hot/warm water for 15 min or so or hit it with a blow dryer. When I put it in water it is still in a plasic bag and the water isn't hot enough to cook it.

It looks like you are thawing and heating them thoroughly. The only other thing I can think of for now would be to try a live feeding. I have seen other members post that when they have snakes coming off of a fast that they have to feed live for a few feedings before switching back to F/T.

I may try that. She is used to feeding live but apparently has eaten f/t before. I already have a rat defrosting for feeding tomorrow so if she doesn't take it i might tray a few lives before I get her on f/t. Will the eventually eat if I just keep trying f/t? one of those she'll eat it when she's hungry enough things or what?

    Re: Fruzed rats

Hmmm, normally using a hair dryer on them for a few minutes works like a charm for me. Maybe you could try using the hair dryer in combination with the hot water? Like put it in the hot water for 10-15 mins and then also use the hair dryer. That's how I do it.

But yeah, if that doesn't work you could try live, but I would say that if she's eaten f/t before, she will definitely take one eventually. Especially if she's just coming off her fast, she should be super hungry. I know mine is!!

Oh, and places to order rodents include Rodent Pro, The Mouse Factory and a couple others I can't think of at the moment. If you just have one snake though, it probably isn't worth paying for the shipping cost.

i checked out rodent pro. shipping was ridiculous. At least for ordering 1 bag of 10 rats was. $13 for the rats isn't bad but the $50 for shipping was.

I use nothing but Bushhill Rodents Colby is a hell of a guy, top of the line feed, clean bedding, even his finished product looks better than anyone elses... prices are good as well
