    Eat alive! Need help !!

Hi everyone. It is the first time I have seen this.

I feed my bp 150gram a little rat pup, those haven't open their eyes yet but not really pinky.

I place the rat pup in and waited 30 mins, when I check, the snake was swallowing the rat from the back. At that point only the head is out, but the rat still squirming, so I know he is still alive!!!

What can I do, now my snake already finished the rat. Will she throw up the rat? That will be so bad I know.

    Thanks

Sometimes they'll do that if the prey item is very small. Although a rat pup is rather large to be eaten alive, he'll be fine no worries..

This is perfectly normal and harmless behavior for Ball Pythons, especially young Ball Pythons.

Thanks thanks. I shouldn't post this, because I found the same thread.

I was just so worried, so no time to read first.

    Thanks again..

Eh, no problem. Most of us have better things to do than stress over similar threads

I've had a few youngsters do that to me. What really freaked me out was when I was feeding a girl that had recently laid eggs (she didn't eat for months) and she ate a weanling rat while it was still alive! I was freaking out because she had the head down and was working on the shoulders and it was flailing around. She stopped, thought for a minute, spit it out, and constricted it. Good grief that was stressful for me, but she figured it out.

slitherinsisters - good lord that'd DEFINITELY freak me out too...
thankfully my girl takes extra time giving the rats her "bear hugs" before letting them go. i worry when she starts letting go after only a few minutes but then i kinda have to go
"ok you know what, she knows what she's doing...trust her instincts."
and then it always works out so yeah.

I've seen it a few times and I think it's hilarious. Does that say something about me?
