Blood behavior!?

Hey guys. I'm sitting here holding my new girl and I'm noticing that she's VERY calm compared to last night. She wriggled everywhere, tried to burrow into blankets and just wouldn't stay still! Tonight though she's sitting calmly on my lap, in my hands or wherever I want to hold her. Is she simply more comfortable tonight than last night? Also, from what I understand bloods aren't very active while in their tubs and this girl hasn't left her warm-side hide since I got her about a week ago. Her temps sit between 86-90 with the thermometer's probe sitting between the tub and paper towel I'm using as substrate. A temp gun will show a slightly lower temp. Is she too cold, or am I just used to a Ball who wanders from time to time?

Her temps sound good to me. Mine was very active when I first got her. I'm still letting her settle in, but I expect she will be the same lazy sausage when I handle her. Be glad you have a calm baby! How long have you had her? Did you leave her alone and let her settle in?

Her temps sound fine, so she'll do what's right for her. From the sounds of it she's just getting settled in, which would be why she's calming down. Just make sure you give her some alone time to adjust with only the necessary handling for cleaning, etc, for about a week and you'll be golden! Congrats on the blood, and good luck with her!

Bloods do well at cooler temps than some other pythons, 82-84 is what I shoot for, she shouldn't be too cold.

Behavior sounds okay but yeah bring the temps down. 78-82 is a good range, up to 84 is a bit warm but doable for some snakes. If you give her a hotspot it can be in the mid 80s, but provide a cool side.

I need to buy a new temp gun, but the temps I posted are with the probe sitting between the tub a paper towels, so it's a BIT cooler. She still sticks to her warm hide and I haven't seen her leave it yet. I put a bit of sphagnum moss in her cold side hide and more sitting out in the tub for her to burrow in. I may get her out one more time before her next feed but she'll get plenty of alone time over the next two weeks for an exercise here on base. Thanks for the tips and I'll be adjusting her temps a bit once the local per shop gets some temp guns in.
