    Odd eye ASf!

I was cleaning tubs tonight and came across this little girl! I love it! She has one black eye and one red!

I Can't decide. Which male should I breed her with?

Male 1 (High white, tan spot, red eyes)

Male 2 (High white, dark spot ,black eyes, odd ear)

    Hold back group

    Lovely! Just wonderful!

It's REALLY unfortunate that odd-eye is not genetic at all. It would be just lovely to be able to breed for it. So honestly, it doesn't matter who you breed her to.

I would do the one with 'odd ear' markings. If anything has the chance of bringing up another odd eye, it might be that.

On another point, if you're ever going to get rid of the odd-eye, please don't feed her off!
I'd love to have her in one of my pet-only colonies, just to look at.

I was leaning towards the odd ear boy myself It might not be able to be explained by genetics, but I'm interested in doing some tests. I pulled her out of the feeder tub when I noticed her eyes. I'm leaning on putting her into the odd ear breeding group to see what happens.

Amazing ASFs! Please keep us posted on the results! I would love to know if she passes on the odd-eyes after all. My understanding was that there was a genetic component to odd-eye.

There is no genetic code for odd-eye. It's more having to do with placement of markings, and carrying dilutions.

In mice, splashing can sometimes cause odd-eye markings, because the dilutions are patchy, and can effect the colours of the eyes that the dilutions fall on, or don't fall on.

There is no odd-eye gene that changes one eye to one colour and one eye to another colour.

    Re: Odd eye ASf!

This thread was really enlightening, I always thought that having one eye a different color from the other was genetic. Is it genetic in other species or did I read wrong? I thought it was genetic in humans sometimes.
