    Pictures and questions (please comment)

    male het pied

    he has come strange markings.

no railroad tracks but some belly markings

speckle sides that the camera could not catch well

strange face mark - see the yellow half circle. he has one on each side. also see the spots on the lip? What does that mean?

female het albino - I almost can not believe how chocolaty dark she is.

look at that belly (turned a bit pink today I think a shed may be coming)

I tried to capture the dark circles within the alien heads but you can hardly see them in the photo. Very similar to a black pastel.

male het albino - I do not see anything special about him really

    nice belly though

    my hot female pastel

    more blushing with each shed

male pastel - this guy worries me he is kind of thin and has stuck shed.

he loved his bath and did not want to come out

I do not know if I should be worried about this spot. Right in the middle of the photo there is an alien head with a dot that looks blurry or something. It is more noticeable in real life but I have no idea what it could be.

    male spider

    female spider

Looks like the start of a very nice collection. I like the pattern on the het pied....nice faded head and reduced pattern...very pretty. And the "hot female pastel" is very nice!

As for the comments on specific pattern elements...well...I think sometimes we tend to over emphasize and over analyze every little scale. The variations that can occur in "normals" (which includes hets in this discussion) are tremendous. It's kind of like looking at me and intently studying the freckles on my face and wondering if the really big freckle on my left cheek means something special. No...it's just a big freckle that is unique to me and has nothing to do with the genetics that got passed on to my children, except that they all have a small smattering of little freckles across their cheeks. (None of them ended up with the mass of freckles that I have, nor my big "beauty mark".)

That's one of the wonderful things about ball pythons....is how variable they are and how beautiful each and every one of them is, BECAUSE they don't look like every other one. I love green vine snakes, for instance....but I wouldn't ever consider having more than one or two in my collection because they all pretty much look alike. But with ball pythons...no matter how "normal" they are, we can always find "beauty marks" that make each and every one of them special.
