    He keeps falling...(pic includes)

    Hello everyone~

I just brought my very first ball two days ago, and the box I provide for him was pretty tall(about 30-ish cm)... He kept climbing up and hang on a thing for awhile then later I usually would hear a sound that sounds like thing that drop on the newspaper ...(yeah its him)
Every time I heard that sound I would want to go check on him, but in the same time I don't want to stress him out ...
I would change to a more suitable box as soon as possible
My question is, would he gets injure if he keeps falling down? Once he even fell into the bowl of water
    (Here he goes again)

Sorry if my explanation is terrible...
    Heres the picture,

    Thank you!!

Ball pythons are poor climbers and are clumsy. He doesn't need anything to climb on, and yes he can hurt himself.

A ball python doesn't need a tall enclosure like some snakes do. They like things snug and cozy. As soon as you are able to, get him a different enclosure. Don't give him anything to encourage climbing until he's had a few weeks to get used to your routine. If you offer him something to climb on later, keep it low to the floor of the cage to prevent serious accidents.

If you read through the Caresheets here, they'll help you pinpoint how you can make his cage better. Here is one :http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...s%29-Caresheet

Does he have hide boxes? His tank looks kind of empty. Give him 2 snug hide boxes and maybe some fake plants to fill up some of the empty space...

He is also still trying to adjust to his new home. He should calm down some in a few days...

Don't beat yourself up. We all made some pretty dumb mistakes when we got started, it's wanting to learn and grow for the sake of our snakes that makes us better than people who just don't care.

    I'm sure he'll forgive you.

Get a smaller tub. You don't need one quite that large and he could hurt himself.

They don't need more than 12" of space, really.

You should have two hides. One on his warm side and one on his cool side.

What do you use to warm his tank? Under the tank heater (UTH). Lights? Do you measure the temerature in his home? He should be around 90 on his warmside, and around 80 on his cool side. I know a lot of pet stores don't stress the importance of proper temperature monitoring. Do you use a thermastat? Sometimes when a tank is uncomfortable for a snake they will move around a lot (although it is probably just because it is a new enclosure).

30cm is less than 12in...I've never heard of a BP getting hurt from falling less than a foot...
