    Dehydration :(

So I took my new BP to the vet yesterday, he is about 4 months old and hadn't been eating or shedding properly for a while now. The vet said he was dehydrated and had lost some weight but this had started before I got him. Any suggestions on how to get him rehydrated the best way? Luckily we did give him a tiny mouse 2 days ago and he actually ate it so we'll try again in a day with another tiny mouse but meanwhile I'm still not sure how to remedy this faster so he can be happy and comfortable again.

Use paper towels or cypress (the red stuff) as bedding and keep it very humid. Spray daily and try to keep humidity up to about 65-75%. I say use these for bedding because they will not mold in the humid environment. Or.. You can make a humid hide by putting moist but not wet cypress bedding in a hide box.

Your vet should have given it a few injections of fluid under the skin if it's that dehydrated. Also a daily soak for a short time in warm, shallow water will help.

Yeah they didnt give him any shots but I have been bathing him and making a humid hide right now. He seems a little better since he ate the mouse but still a bit wrinkly looking so I'm just hoping he perks up a little more so I don't have to start syringe feeding him.

As long as he's eating and you keep the humidity up then he will be fine. Did your vet check for RI? Dehydration can also cause this infection but if he doesn't already have one then just keep doing what your doing and he will be ok.

Yeah, no signs of an RI so I don't think that's a problem. He seems content to sit on the wet towels for a bit too so thanks for the advice there. I'll try to feed him again soon, but I haven't seen him drink for a while which seems odd.
