Question Water bowl =) Easy Q

Well now that my cage has been sitting empty for a while the humidity dropped from like 85% to 30% with the addition of the lamp its down too 16% lol. My question is those who own aquarium style tanks were do you place your water bowl i have mine dead center but was debating putting it under the light as a source to keep the humidity up? Which leads to if i was a snake would i mind if my water is hot or cold?

My substrate is Cyprus mulch and holds humidity great. I do not have a misting bottle yet bet will be getting one soon just wanted to put my head out there and ask about the water bowl.

I'd keep it over/under the heat source to help evaporation. The wider the bowl (more surface area), the more help it will be as well. But you'll probably have to keep an eye on it and refill it often. The snake doesn't care what temp the water is, so long as it's within the normal ranges of the cage itself.

Good to know =) and thank you for the quick reply! Just throwing this question out there too. Does anyone know of a good place to pick up a cheap squirt bottle? Was thinking i would scope out walmart and hope they have a decent one that will mist and not drench the cage.

I agree water bowl with allot of surface area on the hot side will raise humidity. You can get a squirt bottle at the dollar store or walmart.

Cover most of the top of your tank if you haven't already, as well. Glass tanks do not hold humidity well.

The dollar store is a great place for simple snakie stiff. Spray bottle, bowls, etc. I put my lamp over the water bowl too, just as Judy said, but it does evaporate very fast, so you'll have to keep an eye on it.

    Good luck!

I change and check mine once a day. I find that usually in 24 hrs, you can actually see the difference in how much water has evaporated...keep an eye on it, if you don't change the water daily
