I would read the paperwork on both units I believe that the Helix is a 500 watt unit and pretty sure the lower end Herpstats are as well.

    Re: helix or herpstat question

I guess you could, depending on the number of shelves. flexwatt. etc. They are pretty inexpensive as far as supplies can go, it's probably a better idea to have one per rack, save yourself the headache.

Herpstat 2 or herpstat pro is the best choice.

Racks could have different temps and only really monitoring 1 rack and just using that rack's setting to heat others is not the best option. I know big breeders do it that way but sometimes its better to do things the best way and not the most convenient.

Unless your racks are exactly the same I wouldn't do it. You also have to watch that the wattage isn't too high for the thermostat.

    Re: helix or herpstat question

I have both units. I use a Herpstat on my green tree pythons cages. They are both set up the same and read the same temp at all times. I have had it for over 4 years now. I just got the helix and it powers 1 of my rack systems now. It will soon power my other rack system as soon as I finish building it. Yes they will both be exactly the same also. I like them both and they both really do the same thing. My Helix came with a 3 inlet chord and my Herpstat only has 2 chord inlet.
Too many snakes to list. Ball pythons, Gtp's and Boa's. It easier to say it that way.
