    More egg questions

So what tempts should eggs be while Incubated maternally? What's the lowest tempt. I thought I read something about a couple clutches being incubated in cooler tempts(80's) without birth problems or kinks. So can ball python eggs be incubated in a lower tempt?

Snake eggs are VERY hardy. Ive heard python eggs incubated in the low to mid 80s no problems. And some as high as 93.

keep in mind lower temps with fluctuations cause longer incubation periods with more possibility of defects.

I think (please correct me if I'm wrong here) that kinks and other defects are more likely to happen when temps are too high..?

With my clutches, the temps usually fluctuated from around mid 80s to upper 80s. So far, my earliest hatches were at day 53 and latest were at day 67.

Temp Fluctuations is main cause. higher temps hardly harm the eggs. Theres a few that like to incubate at 90-93. But when temps are up and down due to lack of insulation, then thats where problems happen.

What I had read before (can't recall which book at the moment) had said that high temperatures during incubation were thought responsible for skeletal deformities, such as kinking, and that low temperatures led to dead in egg babies.

    Re: More egg questions

I've also heard that temps too high or too low can affect the babies' patterns, so those not incubated at normal temps with odd or unusual patterns could be temp-related, not genetic.
