Humidity for my racks
So i recently bought a 10 tub 12qt rack from ap but since its winter time my one room only gets about 38% humidity level. With that being said I bought a humidifier but I was wondering do you guys keep the door closed when its on and do you keep it on basically 24/7 let me know thanks
O also i have been using newspaper but I am going to be switching over to aspen bedding when it ships to me and yes i know it does not have any cedar or bark or anything like that. All natural.

Re: Humidity for my racks
All of my Ball pythons are on aspen shavings. I use a plant mister with tap water on on the shavings when the humidity is really low. I also have large dog bowls, so they can soak when they want. A humidifier doesn't need to be on 24/7, but I would give them extra moisture when they are in shed.

in my tub with aspen I have a water bowl that is roughly inches across and I had issues with the humidity being too high... I think the aspen will solve your issues.
P.S. my house's humidity is around 30% so the aspen makes a difference.

I keep all my snakes (that aren't in display planted vivariums with bioactive substrate) on newspaper.
Even with average ambient humidity in my apartment being as low as 10% on some days this winter, I have zero issues with low humidity with my snakes.
In rack systems, all you need is a bigger water dish. When I was setting up a tub in preparation for a blood python, I went out and bought a dog food bowl for a water dish.. turns out it was TOO big as I was hitting 80% humidity, lol.
Seriously. Screw humid hides, a different substrate, or adding sphagnum/peat moss and misting.. just get a bigger darn water dish.
