Dual screens can be very useful for web programers, CAD operators like me, or gamers who want a wider field of view (sometimes even 3 screens will be used). It basically keeps the user from having to keep switching from view-port to view-port. Comes in really handy for image/video editing.

Just for giggles here is my Desktop at work..1920x1080p full HD with HDMI input..

    Re: Desktop Screenshot

This thread has prompted me to change my desktop environment. Here's my new one

What I love about GNOME's the fact that you have so many options and control of everything.

My reasoning started with finding out that the internet for the most part is better viewed vertically, think about it, internet is designed to be vertical, it just allowed me to view more things faster. actually this site is one of the only site i have viewing properly with a vertical screen. But for the most part I just fell in love with the vertical screens.

but then obviously movies and you tube videos and such are better viewed horizontal, so i made a mount I could rotate my screen vertically or horizontal. Then I struck a craigslist deal 2x screens upgrade from my old one for 150 bucks (screens retailed at 180 each). I was going to triple screen but my gfx card can only handle 2, so I stuck with 2 and got the best of both worlds.

for just every day stuff I put skype, bp.net chat and facebook on the vertical screen and watch movies and play my games on the other and I can still see everything I want at once. but when im doing website stuff or programming it becomes quite the time saver being able to view multiple things. I just love it.

I run a triple monitor. The reason is easy I work with Photoshop professionally, the centre monitor is the image the right side has the right side pallet and my email open the left side is the left side pallet and often a movie or video running too. It is just faster and easier to do so. Speed is everything!
