So.....I recently adopted a hoggie at petco. I have been interested in finding one for a while now, and so when one popped up for adoption for $40, the boyfriend and I had to pick him up.
I don't really have a clue as to what kind of hoggie it is, the age of it or the sex. As far as I can tell, it looks a lot like a hypo. It seems pretty far fetched for an adoption snake, but his/her belly is clear with no black markings and he just shed a completely translucent clear shed with no markings. I know with balls, that is a dead ringer for hypomelanism. Does this hold true with hoggies as well???
Oh yeah, he is settling in ok. Pretty small snake right now, but I was told he was fed crickets??? I know that is not the correct diet for this snake, and I have made one feeding attempt so far with no such luck. I don't know for sure if it was capive bred or wild caught either. I am chalking up the not feeding thing to just adjusting to its new home. I have a pretty good supply of mouse pinks though, so I will keep trying on a weekly basis.
Thanks in advance,
Em
