Zoo Med UTH under tub

For christmas I got a Zoo Med UTH #RH-4 and it says not to put on plastic but I remember seeing on another post that they only say that cause it wont stick properly to the bottom of the tub so he just taped it on which I dont think is a good idea but it seemed to work for him.

I'm thinking of taping it under my BP's tub near the center where I keep the water dish so I can get more humidity and a higher ambient air temp but I dont want to screw up and have something dumb happen so I wanted some input on what could happen and what I can do to make this work.

if u put a UTH on a tub it will work fine as long as its controlled by a thermostat. i used them in a rack for a while with my herpstat and i had no problems at all. i would suggest to put the UTH on one side for the warm side and if ur ambient temps fall low then use a heat ligh or ceramic heat emitter or a small space heater.

I used them for months on tubs and they're fine...as long as you have that thermostat. And it has to be a T-stat not a rheostat! But then, any heat source used for snakes should have a T-stat regardless of cage material.

They'll be perfectly fine as long as you control it with a thermostat, and as was said above you're better off keeping it to one half (ish) of the tub so the snake can choose whether it wants to be warm or not.

If you use tape to stick the UTH on (which I recommend because then you can un-tape it and use it on another enclosure for whatever reason) make sure you use aluminum tape because it's a lot more heat resistant than the plastics which could soften up over time with the heat.
