I'm kinda proud of this...did some experimenting and came up with a VERY yummy substitute for chips, when you've just gotta have that salty, crunchy side. Goes GREAT with Robin's Taco Soup!
Baked Whole Wheat Tortilla Chips
whole wheat tortillas
Olive Oil flavored PAM
1 TBSP kosher salt
1 TBSP garlic salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried basil
- Preheat oven to 350*
- Cover large cookie sheet with aluminum foil (makes for very easy clean up)
- Mix salt and spices into a small dish
- Stack three tortillas and cut the stack into 8 equal wedges (pizza slicer works great for this)
- Spray foil covered cookie sheet with PAM
- Lay the tortilla wedges out in a single layer
- Spray top of the wedges with PAM
- Using your fingers, sprinkle the salt mixture across each triangle
- Bake for 8-9 minutes (until the corners start to curl upwards)
I'm not fussy about a little extra salt...I get very little of it in my diet as it is, because I eat very little processed foods anymore. But if anyone is worried about salt intake, the spice topping can be adjusted to whatever fits your needs and taste.
Hope you like 'em!! Eight chips = one tortilla and is a VERY satisfying snack!
