Regurge!

Got a brand new little enchi, maybe a little over 100 grams? I've been feeding her f/t hoppers every 6 days or so for the last few weeks, and she's always hungry... so on Friday I fed her two. And then I had one hopper left over because another snake was in shed, so I figured, if the enchi wants a third mouse, why not let her have it?

Well, today I come home and find she's yacked up two of the three hoppers. One of them looks hardly digested at all... yuck.

So now what? Do I feed her one hopper as usual on Friday? Hold off a week?

I would say hold off feeding for two weeks to let her insides settle. 3 mice is a little much but hopefully she'll be ok. If it happens again, you might have to take her to the vet and get a fecal which will show for parasites. Hope this helped!

DO NOT!!!!!!!! feed your snake for at least 2 weeks. When you do, feed it a small meal and wait for it to pass it. A regurgitation can be a very bad thing for a snake that can easily lead to death if not handled correctly.

Heed Big Gunns professional words or very possibly wish you had.

I guess I could just run her to the vet this week. Should I do that? Or wait a week and see what happens next feeding?

(she's still got that first mouse in there somewhere. I don't know if that helps at all.)

I would just wait for two weeks and see if that works. BG is right, feed her smaller sized rats to see if she passes it on first. If she regurges again then take her to the vet for a fecal.

Yeah its kind of a rule to not feed your snake for 2 to 3 weeks, no matter the size. Their digestive system isn't able to rebound like a humans, so they need longer to heal before attempting to eat again. I usually feed very tiny meals like rat Pinkies or Pups and Hopper mice for younger snakes.

I've fed snakes 3 rats back to back, but never that young, 100 grams is awful small for eating 3 meals in one. Just try and continue with a consistent 1 meal a sitting schedule once she has been left alone for at least 2 weeks.

Well, these were hopper mice. And she didn't even look particularly full afterwards... but the first mouse she retched up didn't look digested AT ALL. Like it hadn't even made it into her stomach.

The other thing that happened between Friday and Monday was somebody mistook the cord to the enchi's UTH for the plug to a floor lamp, and pulled it out to plug in the vacuum. I didn't notice until Sunday night... so it was pretty cold in there for a day, and then it was suddenly warm again. I wonder if the flip-flopping temperatures upset the enchi girl's gut bugs?

yeesh, all of the above, maybe? A big meal and low temps is really bad on little snakie guts.
Also, taking a snake (or any pet) to the vet is usually really stressful for them, so give a few days to adjust if you do have to take her in. I fed my corn snake a week after a regurg and all he did was barf it up the next morning. I waited three weeks after than and he was fine! My little BP male regurged only once and i fasted him three weeks and he's never done it since...

not having proper heat will also cause a regurg, but like everyone else stated, don't over feed. and wait the 2 weeks and offer a little smaller than normal. no need for a vet visit at this point.
