Talking Re: Need Tortoise Suggestions and Lots of Questions!

I have a hermanns tortoise and he is about 2yrs now. He is a smaller tortoise variety and I find his care easy. He is in a 6ft by 2ft wood enclosure with heating and uv lights he is fed a variety of organic lettuce and zoo med grass land tortoise food. Also he gets mazuri a couple times a week. I soak him for about 20 minutes once a week and he is doing very well.
Good luck with what ever you choose

Re: Need Tortoise Suggestions and Lots of Questions!

The more research I do one the Red Foot Tortoises the more that I like them! The hubby is having second thoughts about wanting a tort (thinks what he really wants is a dog...*rolls eyes*...something about getting and receiving affection..blah blah)..so the tort might actually be my project now. :-) I've got a couple of little projects that I need to take care of for the snakes before I add an animal...but maybe in the next couple of months! I can keep doing some reserach in the meantime...would quarantine be the same bringing in the new tort as if I had brought in a new snake? (i.e. completely seperate part of the house, fecal, 3-6 month in duration, etc.) Can most things be transferred from snakes to torts and vice versa?
