    Thermostat?

My husband and I are looking into buying a thermostat to control our heat lamp and heat pad under the tank of our BP. It's getting way to hot in his hide so I need something to control the temperature. I'm looking at the Hydrofarm thermostat but I'm not sure if it will control the heat lamp also? It says it is only for heat pads. Any suggestions would be great (that are reasonably priced). Thanks!

I think you would have to get 2 dif stats. If it were me I would get a stat for the heat pad and maybe a dimmer for the heat lamp. They also make dome lamps with a dimmer dial on them

    Re: Thermostat?

If you keep the ambient temperature constant with a thermostat you can then use just a dimmer on your heat pad. If your ambient temps are fluctuating then your heat pad will not stay constant on a dimmer.

Another option would be to use something with 2 probes like the herpstat 2. However, you should be fine with 1 thermostat and a dimmer if you set it up properly.

thats what id recommend. but most heat lamps have a dimmer switch on them already.
