First poop in 3 months.

So my 1600 gram pastel female just had her first poop in at least 3 months. It was pretty messy and big and there was a lot of liquid as well as the solid poop.

Some of it was hard, as if it'd been in her for quite a while.

She never seemed lethargic and she kept eating (she's eaten probably 5 rats) and drinking. She produced urates frequently but not a poop until now.

Will she poop better now?

She also has not shed since she laid her clutch back in July.

Err I mean some of the poop was hard like a poop that has dried out.

Her body is probaly healing after the lay and my guess is that as long as she continues to eat then she should poo just fine!

I got the same case mate. My 1700g female laid eggs and was 1200g. She basically started swallowing food right after I remove the eggs into the incubator. She didn't shed or poo, just a little urine here and there, and her first poo was when she weigh 1950g all the way from 1200g. Weight of 3 hamster and 3 rats I guess, cant really remember but I remembered clearly her poo was kind of dry though.

Now, after a year, she weighs 1800g and healthy and preparing for another breeding project. In my opinion, she wanted to gain back as much weight as possible as the concave on the belly was pretty deep after eggs laying.

As long it is eating after laying, it should be fine and nothing to worry about, normally big snakes are not prone to constipation compare to young baby ball pythons. Hope this helps

I bet you she was getting as many nutrients and water out of her meals as she could. It makes sense that after all that energy and weight is put into her eggs, her body wants to hold on to whatever it gets to help her regain that loss. Some females lose a good percentage of their own body weight after laying! If she doesn't start to go more normally in a couple months, you could take her to a vet. But if she looks good and eats well and can pass urates, she sounds like she's going to be just fine!
