    Quick question about prey size

Hey folks! I'd like to ask your opinion about prey size. I've read in care sheets that the size of prey should be about the size or a little larger than the widest part of your snake. I'm currently feeding my BP small rats, and the size of the rat is about the girth of the BP - it's a pretty good size for him I think! But as soon as he swallows it, there really isn't much of a lump in his body that you can see. Does that mean I should bump him up to medium rats now?

Well you can certainly try it and i'm sure he would eat it, but don't rush things. If it seems like a tight fit, just wait a little longer.

Sure! Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a couple more feedings then, I think.

He's about... I think at the last vet visit a couple of months ago they said he was 1.3 kg. I'll have to weigh him again soon to be more accurate though.

Ok well regardless of the weight.........
Is the food F/T or live/fresh killed? It makes a big difference if frozen thawed to live... A good rule of thumb if live go a little bigger than girth...If F/T you can go alot bigger due to after the freezing process it actually breaks down a bit of the rat meaning tissue cells deteriate and bones get more brittle where the snake can crush them down easily...

Re: Quick question about prey size

@1.3kg (1300g) I would say a small is a bit small....I would feed mediums and see how it goes
