Nope. They are different sub-species. Lampropeltis getula california and Lampropeltic getula nigrita....thus making them an integrade. A hybrid would be if you crossed say L.g.nigrita X Pantherophis guttattus guttattus, aka mexican black king x cornsnake.

Sometimes I amuse myself. This Calking Black king thing is one of those times. I've always known they were both l.getula but have always made the illogical leap, across the abyss of my mind anyway, that because they were found so far from each other that they were different species, even though I know the range overlaps.
Even when I've bred them the babies have never looked anything like a calking.
Oh well. They're cool little guys.
