New BP, baby, in 55 gal tank, named Steve.
Our tank is set up and Steve has arrived. He is very curious and wants to climb on everything. I think we need a bamboo shoot. - Ok now have to figure out how to post pics.

A 55 gallon tank is too big for a baby, much better in a 10 gallon to start.

Your enclosure wayyyyy too big, even for an adult. "Exploring" isn't a good thing. You want a nice little enclosure and the snake to be hiding most of the time.

I don't know how many times people tell me that their baby balls like their big aquarium, and that they're comfortable because they're "exploring".
When they explore, it means the complete opposite: they're stressed out. They're trying to find a way out because they don't feel secure. It would be best if you get your baby a ten or fifteen gal. aquarium, they're only like $30, and it's a lot better for your snake.

like the others have said already put that snake in a 10 gallon tank if your going to keep it in a tank. Make sure theres lots of hides. You know your bp is happy when you never see them unless its 3 in the morning.

Although it may seem like people are being rude or mean, they are just trying to tell you what is best. Don't worry about it, I'm sure a pet store or some other "reptile expert" told you that a big tank was the best thing you could do. I keep my babies in shoebox sized tubs, bigger is not better with bps because they do not like open space. Get a ten gallon and I suggest filling it with fake plants from the start, then when he has eaten several times you can take the plants out. You can use the 55 in a couple years, maybe next year if you partition it.
