Red bulb or ceramic heater

I have to get a night time heat source to keep temps proper at night for hendrix I was wondering what people thoughts were on a ceramic heat bulb over a red bulb? I know they are more but do they last longer and put out a better even heat?

I read the care sheets just want real world opinions

I wouldn't use either. I would use a stick on pad. But of those 2 choices I would use the red bulb and I would make sure that it stays outside of the enclosure.

I have to use one or the other to maintain proper temps at night, at least during the late fall and winter months, it will be outside the tank for certain. I have a heat pad for the hot side of the enclosure the heat is just to keep ambient temps in range

After starting with lights like that myself for the same reason as you, and after gradually expanding my collection, I ultimately just started using a room heater plugged into a Johnson Controls thermostat.
I can understand using a light for just one animal. I initially had thought that you wanted something for constant temperature control of the enclosure.
Being a cheapskate, I had inner turmoil about buying an electric oil heater and using extra electricity all winter. I keep the house temperature at 68 degrees when we are home and lower when we are gone.
In Michigan, the right thing to do is inescapably to heat the reptile room in the winter.
