Well the way things are going i don't think we will be able to own pythons in the next 20-30 years.

Yes. The fact that we will never see all the potential combo's that can be made in our lifetime, will keep the ball python market fresh and alive. Just look at the buzz that Kevin McCurley has created this year so far. And he tells me that what we've seen this year is just the prelude to what's to come next year and the next. Kevin's definitely on his A game!

Do the math on the number of combo's that can be produced with 60 identified base morphs, and then calculate how many three and four gene combo's......well,
can't be done in one lifetime.

20-30 years is a long way off. But my guess would be:

Absolutely, yes.

One thing is obvious, Americans love their pets. One only has to google the words "Pet Industry AND Economy" to see that even when we struggle, we spend more money each year on our pets.

The reptile industry will continue to struggle through bans and legislation. But the Ball Python has many things going for it. Besides its smaller size and ease of care, it is often touted as the #1 reptile pet.

Another thing to remember when considering public opinion...genetics. When people see animals like a killer clown, dreamscicle, bannana...etc. Remember the first time you saw a lucy? I do. People dont think "Wild Animal" when they see them. This can help our legislative struggles. And In my opinion, the Ball Python is the leader in paint jobs.

20-30 years, I hope I am healthy and I hope my kids maintain their passion for ball pythons. Because I cant wait to see what they produce.

good thats what i thought im 21 and i want to be able to breed and sell bps as long as i can bc i love them so much. i would like to breed and make as many morph combos as i can for as long as i can.

I do believe it will continue, granted morphs will get a whole lot cheaper and soon everyday people can own a banana or coral glow and not have to fork out their savings account. If anything expos are getting more common and people just need to be informed of how easy they are to care for and how friendly they are, then the hobby will really grow!
