    Re: feeding your BP..

Can't say I have ever thought of feeding my balls anything other than rats but, I went river rafting with my wife and kids a couple months ago and was amazed at what I saw. A black water snake swimming right up by the shore with a small fish in his mouth. That is no joke a fish! Before my wife could get the camera out he went up the bank and into the grass. Just thought I would share that some snakes do eat fish.

    Rodents only.

I've fed mice, gerbils, rats, and African soft furs.

    Re: feeding your BP..

I don't know about hamsters and small chicks, but I'm pretty sure a BP wouldn't get big enough to eat a guinea pig, and they would never really come into contact with fish that much in their natural habitat, so I don't believe they've ever thought of that either.

About them eating ferrets... (This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine as you may notice shorty) Ferrets are not rodents, and have actually been known to kill snakes for food in their habitat from time to time. They don't smell like rodents, and they don't give off the same prey signals as a ball python's natural prey items would because they aren't really prey animals. I'm near 100% sure a ball python would not eat a ferret, whether live or pre-killed.

Also guys please understand I'm not trying to give my BPs any cool cuisine I'm just being curious and making conversation...

I know they are drawn to rodents due to smell but I also know that my snakes like their food to be jumpy so I figured if a fish was flopping around why wouldn't a snake take a whack at it
