Thumbs down I don't understand people...

Whenever I look at the snakes being sold on Kijiji or Craigslist, and in the ad it says "I just have no time for him/her anymore!" I seriously wonder: do you really not have literally 5 minutes out of your day to take care of your snake?
I mean, come on. I'm a lazy person myself, but it's EASY.

I also hate it when I see crap like "I've lost interest in the snake"
Seriously? Are you five? Want a new toy?

    Thoughts?

lol i feel the same way! im lazy as heck but my balls are the only thing i can sit and just stare at whilest being lazy in my day of nothing to do-ness.

i do have alot of stuff i have to do and i also never have time to actually handle them but they are very docile good feeeders and just great low maintenance pets.

some people are just lame and want to be cool and think a snake will give them good status.

I agree, but at the same time, I would rather them give it away than it becoming neglected or starved to death.

It's sad when people get tired of any living creature and want to discard it ... but to be fair it's their right to not have to keep it, and honestly I'd rather them rehome the animal than neglect it ya know?

But I understand what you're saying. I used to get annoyed seeing pet ads , now I just avoid them all together.

    Commitment doesn't mean much anymore.

good point, but what if the re-homing home isn't the best either? I just don't like the idea of animals being passed around like trading cards

Well on the one hand, some folks might honestly think they would love having a snake, then they find out they can be boring pets. So they would rather not own it. What would you have them do with it?

Rehoming is always a good thing to me. No one rehomes a pet they want and can have. Maybe they want it but can't keep it, maybe they can't keep it but want it.. maybe it's neither. But if they want the pet, and can keep it, they wouldn't be rehoming it.

And for snakes, it's honestly not like the snake is going to "miss" the old owner. In fact, most dogs and cats do well in a new home also. And if the alternative is not getting the attention they need(whether it's basic care or attention depending on the pet), then it's way better for them to get a new home.

I've actually heard people say that a dog should be put down instead of rehomed.. because there's some sort of weird belief that the dog would be better off dead than in a different environment. I've often wondered if they put their pet to sleep if they'll be moving to a new house? Weird.

Most all pets are very adaptive, and especailly reptiles don't become attached to a certain tank or keeper per se. So it's far better to see them going into a potetially better home than to stay where they are no longer wanted or able to be kept.

    That's my $0.02.

    Re: I don't understand people...

    I agree,

I love snakes they are cool, they act like other pets. They just want some attention and a little bit of your time. They don't make noise, unless you piss em off i found that out recently. My thing is you should of thought of things like this before you got involved. But that's my opinion!
