Hatchling detached from yolk before it got all absorbed...
Should I feed now or wait until after first shed?
I know I need a scale (my old one broke and I still haven't got a chance to replace it)... so, I think it depends on how much they weigh?
Okay, the snake is much skinnier than his brother who absorbed all his yolk but is now more active than before when he was still attached to the yolk. Lifts his head, flicks his tongue, and crawls around.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

You can try to feed him with a small prey item after a few days, but he will more than likely not eat it.
I wait until after the first shed for every baby, no matter how small.

Finally got my scale.
The one that detached from the yolk before it got all absorbed only weighs 45g. His brother weighs 69g. So definitely a lot skinnier. He's active though. Tried to get off the scale plenty of times. His fat brother just sat there chilling.

He may not shed. I had the same thing happen to me with an Albino female. She was 25 grams smaller than the rest of the clutch. She weighed 43 grams and was really thin. She hatched on 7-3-10 and still has not shed, but she ate her fourth meal today.

The last snake detached from his yolk too before it got all absorbed. So he's only 47 grams too. He's pretty though. Also active but very skinny.
His head is fine. Just looked awkward in that photo because he balls up hiding his head under his coils, so we had to pry his head out so at least you get a view of his wierd head color.
