Unhappy Kinked hatchling what to do?

    Hi Everyone,

I need some advice on a kinked hatchling. This is the last baby of the year for me and she happens to be kinked in a few locations. One location is about 1.5" from her head with another 1/2" from there. The other kinks are located along her spine close to her tail and feel like small bumps. She is active and seems to be normal besides the kinks and I just need need advice and opinions on what I should do.

Here are some photos of her.

Should I just see if she eats and go from there?

Also, pairing was spider x normal.
-Two eggs died two weeks into incubation from same clutch.
    -Incubation temp was 88.5 +/- 1
    -Humidity 90+%
    -She's 50grams

Re: Kinked hatchling what to do?

what i would do is just wait to see if she eats, and set her up as a pet, not a breeder. for myself, if the quality of life isnt bad, if its just a cosmetic thing, i would keep her but not breed. some might cull, but i wouldnt see the point. it looks like she'll be fine.

I was thinking the same thing myself. If she does make it she will obviously be just a pet. The quality of life is my worry and has me debating the whole issue.

I hope when I check on her tomorrow she looks a little better but I've never dealt with kinks.

Re: Kinked hatchling what to do?

Kinks in newly hatched snakes are different than kinks in lizards in geckos. With lizards they are usually a result of an improper diet and not enough calcium, and can sometimes be remedied by providing the proper diet and supplementing them with extra calcium. The kinks that snakes are born with are not normally nutritional and cannot be remedied in the same way.

My girl is only slightly kinked but still kinked, the example in your link is extreme but is what most people think of when they hear kinks.
