Drool Question

My sister's snake is acting normally. She ate a small rat last week and temps and humidity are normal. Our friend was cleaning her tub while holding her and let her drink some of the water. There was nothing in the water. No cleaners, no soap, no nothing. It was just water straight out of the tap (she was just wiping down the tub so no cleaners were involved) While she went on to the next tub, she handed the snake to me. While I was holding her, she projectile drooled all over my arm, shirt and pants. Almost like she threw up, only it was drool. Then for a few seconds after, she continued to drool all over my hand. It was dripping out of her mouth. She is completely fine now. No weird behavior. She settled right down to chill in my lap.

There are no signs of an RI. Could she have just drank too much water?

Hmmmm...weird.

I was going to say RI as well...

I mean this could be THE sign of RI, but if it was this bad I can't imagine it wouldn't be whistling through the nose. Maybe it took a drink right before you picked it up or something, and it just kind of leaked out? Very strange...Maybe someone has had this happen that can assist better

I wish I could find them, but, I've read a thread or two around here where people were talking about handling their snakes right after they drnk water and getting spilled on. Seems like the snakes kinda take a while to swallow water, and use gravity to help, so depending on how you handle them they might drool some onto you?

Seems like other signs of an RI are mucus, breathing noises, etc...

It was most likely just the water from getting a drink, no worries. Its happened numerous times around here.

Mucus/drool from an RI isn't runny like water, its more gooey like saliva, and it doesn't pour out like that either. The whole reason its as harmful to the snakes as it is is because they can't move it, it blocks the airway because it is thick.

I wouldn't worry too much if it just ran out like straight water honestly, it happens. The handling basically kind of works the water back up.

Yes they can shoot water out, I've had a few do it to me too.
It doesn't happen often but maybe 3-4 times in a couple years.
I'd venture to say it's fairly soon after they drink water that it happens.
