    Egg going bad??! :'(

Oh I'm heartbroken! I didn't notice this the other day and now I'm worried it's going bad!!

(sorry my photobucket wasn't working, had to do the url)

The veins are still red and strong and the embryo is on the other side of the egg. What is going on here? Is there anything I can fix? I have plenty of humidity and my temp ranges about 2* from night to day.

Cat, I think it' fine. Just make sure the attached paper doesn't get wet. I would remove most of it if possible.

ok I will try to do that. I was just terrified of tearing the egg. I will be so heartbroken if it doesn't make it! I'm going to toss the other eggs too, as you can see they look horrible! (And they stink!)

Cat, if you're not comfortable just tear away the extra paper that's not attached. A small amount is fine. I use newspaper as substrate so quite a few of my eggs have some paper on them.

Ok. I am going to wait till my boyfriend is home to help me. I dont want to risk dropping it while trying to take the paper off. Thank you so much Dave for all your help.

What do you think could be causing it? I have my egg box set up the way you told me to, with the holes taped up except for 3. And I have a shallow pan of water at the bottom of the incubator for extra humidity.

I think it's just the way the egg formed, not all eggs are perfect. Some have "windows", spots, etc.
