My first ever clutch from start to finish

It's been a long few months since I got my first lock in late December to now when all 3 of my new ball pythons are out of the egg and have been cleaned up and stuck into a shed tub. Here are the pics I took throughout the season until today weighing the babies. Sorry for some crappy pics, a few were taken with my phone.

It was 4 eggs & 1 slug, with one egg, the one being candled in that last pic going bad during incubation.


I cut the eggs on Friday, which was day 55 and today all 3 eggs were out of the eggs so I washed them up and set them up in their shed tubs.








Final count was 2 pastels and 1 cinny, I haven't sexed them yet, but I will after their first shed.

My one thing about this. I used Hatchrite for incubation, something I won't use again. About 3 weeks into incubation, my eggs started denting even though the box was sealed and everything. There's no reason to have to add water to something that is supposedly perfectly pre-mixed

i had the same issue with hatchrite. i will be going back to my plain ol' vermic.

Exactly when mine did last year also, I had to add water for the rest of the incubation time to keep it at the right humidity.
This year on light diffuser over vermiculite everything has been fine except the mold at first because of too much water.
Once I figured the water ratio out no issues what so ever.

Very cool... congrats on the babies!

My current/first clutch has two things in common with yours - I had one infertile egg (out of 7) which has since gone bad, and I experienced denting 2 weeks in with the hatch-rite. I added a little water in the following week, and all but one plumped back up... no further denting either (on day 33 now), so I'm leaving them alone unless things change. How much water did you have to add, and how often? And did they plump back to normal?

I actually added probably about 3/4 of a cup on day 25ish(when I noticed the denting) and after that I never had a problem with it.


Lauren - All in due time. Maybe next year a Pewter YB...would that make it better since it's a year later?
