    Unplanned Rattlesnake Pictures

I was out hiking the other day, and I saw two rattlesnakes. I live in Southern California, so i'm assuming that these are Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes. I don't have any experience with them, so I didn't get too close, but I did manage to take two (bad) pictures with my phone. I also still don't know how to zoom in on my phone, hahaha

i grew up in southern california too and those definitely look like western diamondbacks...i know cuz my dad always made a show of killing them when they ventured too close to the house. he wanted us to see what they looked like so we would avoid them.

Matt is correct. They are Southern Pacifics, helleri. Many many people mistake them for diamond backs.
