How do you remove a BP if it bite you and locked on you..

How do you remove a BP if it bite you and locked on you..

i read these 4 suggestions online, i dunno if this is true based on your experiences:
#1 i heard of getting a cotton bud, put alcohol and put it inside the snakes mouth, he should let go.
#2 put ice over his forehead, he should let go of the bite.
#3 squeeze his jaw and move the snake forward and lift it, coz their teeth are position inwards.
#4 lie him down on a flat surface so he can feel at ease, wait and he will eventually let go.. sometimes it takes a looong time though.

are these all true? how do you get your bp if it bite lock on you?

I know VPI's book I believe recommends option #4. I've heard hot water works well (I know someone that got a 12 foot burm off her husband that way). I've only received defensive bites though. I've never had one get me in a feeding response and lock.

with the BP I wait. The bit and squeeze are not dangerous, though if he tags me just right it hurts like the ****ens. I figure there's more chance of harm if I try to remove him than if I just wait. I look at it as a character-building experience to wait LOL!

As most have said, the best way to do it is wait it out. It can take up to 10 minutes at times, but it is the least harmful to the snake, and it will let go when it realizes you are not suffocating.

This has only happened to me once. And, might I add.... totally my fault.
It happened so fast that I just did the first thing that came to mind. I started blowing very forcefuly in his face. Starting each breath as hard as I could with a PFFFF. Kinda like a punch of air straight at his nose, eyes and pits. I dont know if this would work for anyone else but it worked that time. after about the third air puff he left go and recoiled back and looked at me like WTF man. I just laughed at that point realizing how shocked we both were at the string of events that just happened. LOL hope to not have to try and prove this method, but maybe someone else has heard this and can back me up.

Cold water is the safer of the two "water" temperatures, hot water is a potential burn hazard....dit de dur.

Either way, option #4 is the safer of the choices.

Dunk your hand and the snake in a sink full of water. Temps don't matter unless it's so hot it burns you or the snake.

Take some whiskey and pour over his mouth/head.

If you have a snake that has clamped on and won't let go, you need to stop taking a shower in Odour de Rodent perfume/cologne.

I've never heard of a ball latching on and not letting go. Usually they just give you a quick "get out of my face" strike. I've seen a ball clamp on when the person was feeding the snake without the use of tongs and his hand got too close to the rat and snake's mouth at the same time. The ball let go after a few seconds.

Re: How do you remove a BP if it bite you and locked on you..

I have only been bitten and constricted together a small handful of times. longest was about 3 minutes by the BP. And yes it was a feeding error. Felt like 3 hours!

I don't wait my boa out though - he's stronger and has bigger teeth! I waited the first time and he ended up tearing me up pretty good. Now I unwrap gently from the tail.

The more extreme measures I think should be reserved for true emergencies where a) a child has been bitten (got forbid) or b) the snake is actually big enough to endanger you.

Re: How do you remove a BP if it bite you and locked on you..

i just wait for them to let go. If its bitten down on a part of my hand that happened to fit in their mouth (finger or something), i push it gently towards the inside to get the teeth out, I've always been spit out after doing that.

You just have to remember not to jerk away because you'll cause a lot more damage to yourself and the snake if you pull in the opposite direction of the teeth.
