Is he happy now ?
Ok so a little back ground ..... I got my bp ( rescued him for a price ) form a pet store and later found out the he was an unstabelished feeder he had never been feed a day in his 4/6 wk life they said they were sorry and wanted to refund and give me another snake I said no I would keep him ( I did not want them to have him back i felt he was better off with a newbie then with a store that did not know anything about the animals they were selling )
So two assist feedings and one bad atempt on my own ( He only got the head of a f/t pinkie ) he is acting diffrent now then he was I was wondering if this means he is content now ? After his last helped feeding on monday this week he has been spending alot more time in his hide and roaming the tank . Now I have read that roaming is not a sign of courosity but of stress and wanting to escape so maybe this is good ?????? or is he getting ready to shed after twoand a half good meals ???? His eyes are not blue as of yet though any way I just wanted to know if he is doing good if all this sounds nourmal
set up
two hides cool side warm side
temps good
good humdity ( rasid it some thinking he may be shedding soon )
moved him to a low traffic zone and cover three sides of his tank
thanks

Re: Is he happy now ?
If he is hiding more, that is a good thing.
I would keep working on getting him to eat on his own. Upping his prey size will help.
You seem to be on the right track. Good luck with the little guy!

Re: Is he happy now ?
I have tryed on my own to get him to eat u know zombie dance and presenting and blow drying ....lol but he just does not seem to get that hey buddy this is food ! Not a new tank mate ....lol
I just got some chicken broth cubes I was told that if u put a few drops on their prey item it will help . So next week on monday I will give that a go . He is still really skinny so I am keeping him on a 5 day feed if he does not eat it monday I will wait try again after 2 days then if he still does not eat I will take him back to the chick that helps me assist feed him she is realy calm and gentel she only gets him to open up with a spoon( again very gentel ) then I put the head in and we let him go and he does the rest

Re: Is he happy now ?
I honestly don't think the chicken broth will have any effect.
If he won't eat on his own, keep assist feeding once every 5 days. If you can, have that person teach you how to assist feed so you can do it yourself.
If you haven't tried already, try heating the prey item with a hair dryer right before offering it. The warmer it is, the better they can see it. Also, the hair dryer makes it nice and smelly.

Did you try live prey? I heard some snakes can be picky and only eat live. Just my own two cents being thrown out there.

Re: Is he happy now ?
I did try a live pinkie , ever be for the assist feed but the same thing He was not interested and I even left it in his tank for over night ( I figured a pinkie would not hurt him )

Re: Is he happy now ?
You could try a live fuzzy. That won't hurt your snake.
Sometimes they don't even recognize pinkies as food because they are so small.
