    Re: dealing with mean dragon?

Well someone once told me to put them in a plastic tub and watch a movie with your hand in the tub. Eventually they will get use to it and know that you are not out to hurt them. I also heard putting a shirt that you have worn in with them as a blankey.

There are a ton of ppl with wayyyyyyy more experience than I....so I am sure they will have tons of ideas.

I'm having the same issue right now. Not sure how old he is exactly, but he's not very happy to get taken out of the cage. I handle him every day and I hand feed him a small mealworm on occasion...currently that's the only way he gets them.

So far he has not gotten any better. Everything spot-on with your beardies setup? UVB good? That's what I was told to check.

Well if they are anything like my Bob...they are smart...stubborn...and like it their way. Keep it up...it is a war of the wills!!

Also wait to hear from Capt. Howdy and BeardedDragon....they both have tons of experience in the beardie world!!

    Re: dealing with mean dragon?

What I have done in the past for unruly dragons is try to get as much positive interaction with them as possible. Handling them whenever you can in a safe and familiar environment. You want to make sure they are confortable and settled in before starting to calm them done. If they have a specific food item that they love use that as a reward/incentive when handling them. I will hold them for a while until they get antsy then return them to there viv and give them a treat(mine luv hornworms they go nuts for them) the next time do the same thing. You can also try the scenting trick by leaving something with your sent in the tank so they get use to your scent. The key is handling it might take a while but eventuly they will calm down. Most of the time it is do to not feeling safe and are scared, just keep doing what you are doing and she will eventually mello out for you, just might take some time..

If you have any question you can pm me if you want...
