    A color/health question

My normal female bp is only eating mice right now... and being a normally 2000g+ snake thats a lot of expensive mice so I decided to set up a trio of mice to help feed her with. Plus... mice are just sooo cute lol

The male I have is the chocolate one? on the right side, he is pretty cute. My definite female keeper is the silver satin girl, I've never seen one of those before!

I want to keep one of the black and white girls too, but I was wondering if the facial blaze on one of them would make her a bad choice for a breeder (possible megacolon marker)?

    Thanks ahead of time

I don't think white blazes on mice is linked with megacolon the same way it is with rats.

I'd advise keeping all of them, and then hold back babies from the ones that produce the biggest healthiest litters. Sometimes it can be really hard to get a mouse colony going, so giving yourself more chances to get a good mother is a good idea.

    Re: A color/health question

That is a good point, I already fed off the black/wild type looking girl but she was really hyper anyways.

I'll probably hold back the remaining 3 and I hope I start seeing some fat little mice sometime soon

    Thanks!

I would hold back all of the girls as well.

You will have plenty of time to cull after they have their first litters. Then you will really know what you have.

    Re: A color/health question

Megacolon in mice is linked to a tail marking. I beleive that it's a small band of white near the tip of the tail.
