I need some information about a reptile expo

Hi...... I am thinking about trying to organize a reptile expo in my area and I'm hoping someone can give me some information about what I need to do to get the ball rolling.

These are some of the things I have thought of.

1.) I need to check local laws that may prevent or limit the expo.

2.) Need to find a venue.

    3.) Need to contact vendors.

    4.) Need to advertise.

I know there are a lot of things that I am not considering. And it is not as simple as just doing these things. And I know even when I think I have it all figured out, at some point something unexpected will come up.

So please give me your input.

You can either leave the input here or send me a PM.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Re: I need some information about a reptile expo

other things to consider for a reptile expo ( any expo I guess) are insurance issues, food sellers, restrooms ( make sure they got enough everyone hates waiting to take a leak lol) parking, directions to getting there, also if it a mutli day event hotels that are close by and any specials rates and such you can get for people.

I know in DE there are no vemonous snakes allowed ( sstate law/reg for retpiles) and you need permits for all non native snakes ( to the state ).

I was considering looking into a local gathering ( no sells type thing ) just a local gathering of reptile owners, and have a meet and greet with some talknig and compairing of xp. this way no real permits or such needed . and if anyone did any trading and selling it was outside of the event( as in a private deal )

Re: I need some information about a reptile expo

After reading what I posted I need to clarify a little.

When I read the word expo it made me think of a big multi day event.

So I guess a more accurate name for what I am thinking about organizing, would be a "show".

    You need to start small.

Re: I need some information about a reptile expo

yeah always start small. I want to consider a gathering for the local herpers just as a meet and greet and talk type event. I also conside it a good way to make new friends in case the worst ever happens lol.
