Humidity and Bedding
I have a couple of questions about bedding and humidity. I'm housing my bps in a rack with sterilite tubs. I'm cleaning tubs out today and switching from chipped aspen to unprinted newspaper. I'm hoping to switch to f/t soon and want to get the tubs set up properly for this. The switch to paper stems from not wanting the aspen to stick to the feeders.
I'm having humidity issues with the aspen also. The humidity is way to high in the tubs and despite adding more holes to them, there's still a problem. Will the paper help lower the humidity?
I've read that some use paper and aspen together. Is there a particular reason for this? Is there anything wrong with just using paper?
Sorry for all of the questions, my husband is currently deployed so I'm a single snake mommy and just want to do what's best for my 'kids'

Re: Humidity and Bedding
The newspaper will probably help to lower the humidity. If it doesn't lower it enough, a small oscillating fan by the tubs will help to lower the humidity.

Re: Humidity and Bedding
As Kaorte said, the paper could help lower the humidity.
I assume some people just like a base to put the aspen on top of, so they use paper towels or newspaper for their base.
Many people will only use unprinted newspaper, newspaper, paper towels, or even Kraft paper (yes you Trevor LOL) for their substrate and they do just fine with that.

Re: Humidity and Bedding
I use unprinted newspaper and humidity is much lower than when I tried Mulch and Aspen. Also the size of your water bowl matters alot in the amount of humidity in the tub. I live in Florida and I use 4 inch bowls and the humidity stays around 60-70% in the tubs. As long as there is no "wetness" there is no problem.
