Re: found a turtle or tortoise

okee dokee...i called a wildlife rehabilitator near me & left them a message about the turtle we have. hopefully we can work something out. i DO NOT want to release this turtle near our neighborhood because of the evil kids we have here.
so...im taking steps to get this turtle back out in the wild where it belongs...
who knows though, maybe we'll buy a pet turtle if a turtle is still in my family's heart. thank you all.

Re: found a turtle or tortoise

im comforted knowing we got a wild animal out of a bad situation & gave it a better home somewhere else away from the hussle & bussle of a neighborhood. its where it should be now.

Re: found a turtle or tortoise

Thats a really good thing you did. I have kept box turtles before and they are a lot of work. They really do better if kept in a large outdoor enclosure with planty of depth to dig in. They are fun to keep but its good you released it. I released one last year that was found in a high traffic area. They do have a very small range and remember where everything is at so its best if they be released in a wooded area on the edge a shallow body of water like a creek. This way they will have everything they need and be less inclined to find their way back to their original home. They are the cutest turtles I think. It always looks like they are smiling and I love the eye color.
