    Hides in tubs

I now have a 12 tub rack(Yippee!). Do you put hides in each tub, or is the tub essentially dark enough to become a hide. I'm just curious.

    Thanks

    Re: Hides in tubs

A lot of people don't use hides in their closed rack systems and it works just fine. I like to provide my snakes with at least one hide because they will use them fairly often.

Either way is fine. If they stop eating with no hides, that might be a clue that they want the hides

    Re: Hides in tubs

I dont put hides in every tub. For the racks I dont use hides at all if the sides and back of the rack are enclosed. As long as the snake in each tub is not too small for that size tub. I do use hides for some of the smaller snakes if they need to be in a larger tub. I also have a boaphile stacked cage set that has a couple larger balls in the 2ft by 2ft cages. These snakes get hides so they feel more secure.

I only use one hide per tub. They shuffle it around from the warm side to the cool side.

I use two, but my collection is small. I think it depends on how many snakes you have and how much you can afford. Everything would be fine with one or none, but I really just prefer two, hot and cool.

I'd use hides, but I think they enjoy newspaper more

    Re: Hides in tubs

I use hides in my tubs for snakes up to about 600 - 800 grams. Once they get that big, the hide would take up too much room and I don't think they are as important.

    Re: Hides in tubs

I am lucky. I use unprinted newspaper that comes on the cardboard rolls so when a roll is empty I chop it down smaller and slice it in half and get 10 hides per a roll that can be used for babies to yearlings. Other than that I don't use any hides in my rack. In other words I only use them for babies through yearlings
