Re: Couple pics, finally
The Fire Horn was still quite young in that pic. We now know he is a male as he has developed the huge lump on his head!! Chunk usually loves to be petted, he will actually run his body along your hand, but hubby was trying to show off last night and got bit...lol. Chunk drew blood... I do love my tank busters and we will be building a 400 +/- tank in the basement for them over the next year or so.

Re: Couple pics, finally
Ours is a bit of a bully, but that is to be expected. He's still a bit shy with us, but bullies all the other fish. He is really gorgeous and, as I'm sure you know, pics do not do his colors justice. We named him Stewie cause he reminds of the baby on Family Guy that wants to rule the world. I have not yet gotten any decent pics of the Red Devil (who is also un-named at this point). The Pacu's are just big dumb muscle and the male Johanni has a Napoleon complex, he is so tiny, but still tries to beat up the Pacu's...too funny.

Re: Couple pics, finally
Beautiful fish!!! Pacu's are my FAVORITE
What size tank do you have the two Pacu's in? How old are they? What and how often do you feed yours? Thanks!!!

Reason: Pacu questions...

Re: Couple pics, finally
They are about 5-6 yrs old now, they are in a 125 G tank and are quickly outgrowing it (though their growth has slowed a bit). We feed Cichlid pellets and flakes, thawed frozen peas, Frozen feeder cubes (variety pack with beef heart, brine shrimp, etc), Freeze dried shrimp pellets and feeder fish occasionally (med-large sized) and Algae Wafers. That tank is fed every three days or so and we usually throw in a handful of pellets, wafers and flakes. Then once the big guys are occupied, we throw in shrimp pellets, the frozen cubes, brine shrimp, whatever so the little fish have a chance, too. We also drop 4 dozen feeders in every two weeks to once a month. The peas are just used as a treat from time to time. We will also occasionally put live plants in there for the Pacu's to chew on since they are mostly herbivores in nature. Can't wait to get the big tank built for Chunk and Red, they definately deserve it!!

Re: Couple pics, finally
I have been a big fan or flower horns for a long time. I got my first one when I was 16. I currently have two of them. I keep a lot of central and south american cichlids, but I like owning wet pets a lot more. There is just so much personality.
I really need to get a hold of taking pictures of my guys. I have a female thai silk that is pretty remarkable, and a male jk that is mid peel.
